Training in Human Genetics& Genomics

Project Training in Human Genetics& Genomics
                                          For
             BioStudents/Lifescience Professionals/Scientists

Genomic research will change the way we practice medicine by translating the new knowledge of the Human Genome Project into findings that will help our patients survive some of the most common deadly diseases, through very targeted, personalized treatments. Ultimately, our discoveries will allow us to prevent many of these diseases altogether.''

The goal of the training Program in Human Genetics is to train the next generation of leaders in human genetics. This rapidly evolving field of research incorporates multiple areas of modern experimental biology (including but not limited to molecular and behavioral genetics, epigenetics, biochemistry, cell and developmental biology, imaging, and large-scale omics approaches such as genomics, transcriptomics and functional genomics) and of computational biology (including bioinformatics and biostatistics). During the training, students would tackle Mendelian diseases and genetically complex traits of key relevance to human health.
IBRI endows training and courses in Human genetics with an aim   to equip future researchers with fundamental knowledge of Human genetics and genomics along with the state-of-the-art methods for generating experimental data on a genome-wide scale and computational and statistical approaches to draw sound conclusions from the data of biological and medical significance. The training program is designed to provide a curricular foundation in human genetics and takes into account the fact that genetics is increasingly relevant within the framework of multiple biomedical research and scholarly career pursuits.
This is a multi-disciplinary training program in Human Genetics and Genomics aimed at training scientists/professionals/students from any field of biological sciences broadly in areas of human genetics and genomics relevant to human health and disease as Modern medicine is increasingly dependent on “genomic literacy” among practitioners and patients, thus training the scientists who will work in arena of Genetics, Genomics for Biomedical Sciences is our aim.
Training Areas
Human genetics is a multidisciplinary field that requires training in three core competencies:
  • ·        Transmission and Quantitative Genetics
  • ·        Population and Nature-Nurture Studies
  • ·        Molecular and Statistical Genetics
